WORLD HEALTH DAY
The World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7th April under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as other related organizations. At the First Health Assembly in 1948 the World Health Day was incepted. It since took effect in 1950, with its celebration aimed at creating awareness about a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization.
Health is a very important need for everyone as it provides us with a better capability to work as per the needs of the growing world. The theme of World Health Day 2019 is ‘Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere.’ The slogan is ‘Health for all.’ The primary hashtag being used is #HealthForAll.
Universal Health Coverage is about ensuring everybody and all communities have access to quality health services where and when they need them without suffering financial hardship. It includes the full spectrum of services needed throughout life, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care. This is best based on a strong primary health care system. With this, its important for health workers would have to campaign more to help decision makers for health to recognize what people need in terms of care, especially at the primary care level.
The campaign also enables ministers of health and other decision making bodies in various governments to address the marginalized in universal health coverage in their countries, and also to emphasize on progress that has been made. The Day gives an exclusive opportunity to communicate about the importance of equity in health care services, for not only the health of individuals, but also for the health of economies and society as a whole.
Happy World Health Day to everyone as we all put in the effort to adopt preventive measures to keep fit and healthy, and also report to health facilities for assistance.
